Smishing
Phishing via SMS: fraudulent text messages with links to spoofed login pages.
Smishing (SMS phishing) is phishing via text message. Common lures: parcel notifications, allegedly locked banking accounts, tax refunds. By 2026, spoofing Swiss 076-series numbers is trivial.
Protection: never tap SMS links directly – open the provider's app and check inside.
Why this matters in 2026
In 2026, NCSC reports new smishing waves with Swiss 076-prefix spoofing every week. Common lures: alleged parcel delivery (Swiss Post), tax refund, health-insurance bonus. Success rates are higher than for classic phishing emails because phone screens show fewer context indicators (no sender hover, shortened URL display).
How to protect yourself
Never tap a link in an SMS directly – open the provider's official app (Swiss Post app, banking app) and check from there whether the announced action is real. Forward suspicious SMS to antiphishing@ncsc.ch (free for Swiss users). With Swiss mobile operators, enable the premium-SMS lock.
