EICAR test file
A harmless test file that lets you verify your antivirus scanner without using real malware.
The EICAR test file is a 68-byte, technically harmless file that every antivirus vendor recognises as "test malware". It was created in 1999 by the European Institute for Computer Antivirus Research so that users can verify their scanner without needing real malware.
