MFA (Multi-factor authentication)

Login protection using multiple independent factors – an extension of two-factor authentication to three or more.

MFA (Multi-factor authentication) generalises 2FA to three or more independent factors: knowledge (password), possession (smartphone, token), inherence (fingerprint, face).

For private users, 2FA is usually enough; MFA with three factors is typical in enterprise and high-security environments.
